[Rei is sitting on the roof with a book. It's sitting to the side with a pencil laid across the open pages. She's busily typing a messages into her device, then taking a few moments to look into the distance and enjoy the sun and the breeze before typing a new message.

She'll be up there all day. It's too crowded inside, but she won't be bothered by company.

I mean, is she ever bothered by anything?]

[He nodded. If he did run into her, then perhaps it wouldn't be a terrible thing. He looked down at the now empty space the book had been occupying.]

Mn. That's a relief.

[He looked up at her then back out toward the scenery.]

Someone whom I thought was a friend.

[He nodded once more.]

Yes. I think so. I doubt he would do that.

[He let some silence pass before speaking again, and realized how comfortable it was just to talk to her.]

He took something of mine.

[She assumes. Minato doesn't seem like the type who would care if someone took something dumb and little.]

[He wondered how this could have happened. Or he knew. Should have known better? But it was too late, and hardly worth regretting now.]

[She nods slightly. That might make it easier to figure out.]

[It might. He hoped so.

It was true. He could always get a new one. What use did anyone have for it besides his mirror, but his mirror might already have one. Hence why he hadn't tried to steal the Evoker in the first place. All it did was negate his power. Was that the point?

Minato shifted his weight slightly and set a hand down in order to lean against his arm. As he looked down at the floor, his mind wandered to possibilities of what to trade. Was it worth it to give up a memory? Would it be selfish to hold onto something of that much value to himself, while others suffered? It would change him, but by how much? What else could they want from him?

He let silence reign once more, knowing she would probably understand why.]

[Rei looks out at the horizon in silence for several moments, giving Minato time to think.

At length, she speaks.]

[She could probably see the faint look of surprise across his face.]
